Each month the Sandi Reed Real Estate Group provides you with a list to keep you on track with those essential home repairs. We want to remind you that maintaining your home does not have to be overwhelming, but it does require some consistent attention.
March can be a tricky time in the Midwest. Weather can be fantastic or not! Therefore, we are still working inside through this month’s tasks.
#1 Evaluate Smoke Detectors
Change your batteries in your smoke detectors. If the smoke detectors are over 10 years old, they need to be replaced. Also make sure CO2 detectors are installed 5′ off the ground near
#2 Clean Doors and Baseboards
Wipe down all doors and baseboards. Touch up paint as needed. Unpainted surfaces can be touched up with varnish or clear coat.
#3 Electrical Check-Up
Take the time check any electrical cords plugged into outlets. Frayed or damaged cords should be thrown away or replaced. If using power strips, make sure you do not have heaters plugged into them.
#4 Clean Your Range Vent Fan
People do not realize how dirty this area can get. Follow manufacturers instruction on filter removal and replacement.
#5 Garbage Disposer Tune-Up
Treat your disposer to a meal of crushed ice to sharpen the blades and citrus fruit for freshness. Check unit for leaks and frays in the cord.
We hope these tips will make your home safer and more efficient this March. If you have any other questions regarding real estate in Lee’s Summit or anywhere in the greater Kansas City area, give Sandi a call at 816-877-8732, or visit www.SandiReed.com. Licensed in both Missouri and Kansas.
